Overview

The Parks Division is comprised of 38 employees and is responsible for the maintenance of 25 city parks and all facility grounds. Park Crews also mow city right-of-ways and are responsible for graffiti clean-up, weedy lots, and 3 cemeteries. This division also provides assistance for all city special events.

City Parks

Alex Gonzalez Park (ALA BLANCA PARK) (4.0 acres) – W. Bus. Hwy. 83 & Moore Field Road

A Neighborhood Park, which includes a Playground, .75 mile  Walking Trail, and 6 Picnic Shelters and a Soccer Field.

ARNULFO “TATAN” RODRIGUEZ, JR. PARK (1.7 acres) – 220  E. 1st Street
A Neighborhood Park. Splash Pad, Playground ages 5-12, Small Soccer Field, ½ Basketball Court, Walking Trails and Restrooms.

ASTROLAND PARK (4.0 acres) – 115 South St. Marie Street
A Neighborhood Park, which includes a Playground, 6 Picnic Shelters, Covered Pavilion, Walking Trail, and Basketball Court and a small Soccer Field

BANNWORTH PARK (18.5 acres) – 1822 North Shary Road

A Community Park, which includes a 7/8-mile Jogging Trail, Playground, Pond with a Pier, Picnic Pavilion, 8 lighted Picnic Tables, Football/Soccer Field, Natatorium, Boys and Girls Club Gym with classrooms, a 2 acre Dog Park,  Restrooms, and Open Play

Bentsen Palm Community Park (63 acres) – 1801 S. Inspiration Rd.
A Regional Park, which includes 12 picnic shelters, 2 acre pond with pier, 4 lighted baseball/softball fields, restrooms, 2  playgrounds ages 3-12, 4 lighted  basketball courts, shuffle board courts, 4 lighted tennis courts, Dog Park and a 2 mile walking trail.

BIRDWELL PARK (8.0 acres) – 2400 North Stewart Road
A Neighborhood Park, which includes a Playground, 16 Lighted Tennis Courts, Lighted Basketball Pavilion, .42 mile Walking Trail, Restrooms.

CWV PARK (17.1 acres) – 115 S. Mayberry Road
A Community Park, which includes the Mission Food Pantry, the CWV Athletic Complex, 2 Lighted Softball Fields, Mayberry Pool (heated), Playground, Picnic Pavilion, 6 Picnic Shelters, Boys and Girls Club Gymnasium,  Restrooms, Half-Mile Walking Trail, and Open Play Area.

EL SENDERO PARK (1.5 acres) – El Sendero Subdivision (Sharyland Plantation), South Shary Road
Neighborhood Park, which includes a Playground and Open Area for Play.

HOLLIS RUTLEDGE NORTHWEST PARK (Northwest Park) (8 acres) – 3408 N. Inspiration Road.

A Community Park, which includes a Paved .46 Mile  Walking Trail, 2 Lighted Baseball Fields, Restrooms, a Shaded Playground ages 5-12, Covered basketball pavilion, large shaded exercise court, Picnic Shelters,  2 small  Soccer Fields.

JAYCEE PARK (10.0 acres) – 974 North Los Ebanos Road .
A Community Park, which includes 2 Lighted Baseball Fields, Shaded Playground, 2 Basketball Courts, 11 lighted Picnic Shelters, Restrooms, and a ½ Mile  Walking Trail.

JOSE M. LOPEZ PARK (3.0 acres) – 200 West 1st Street
A Neighborhood Park, which includes a Playground, 6 Picnic Tables, and Restrooms.

LA LOMITA HISTORICAL PARK (7.5 acres) – 11417 North La Lomita Road
A Special Use and Neighborhood Park, which includes Historic preservation of Oblate Mission (la Lomita Chapel) restrooms, and 10 Picnic Tables.

LEO PENA PLACITA PARK (2.5 acres) – 803 N. Conway.

Veterans Memorial,  Amphitheater, Amphitheater seating, restrooms adjacent to Veterans Memorial, and Special Events

LIONS PARK (4.0 acres) – 1500 Kika de la Garza Loop
A Neighborhood Park, which includes 2 Lighted Baseball Fields, All-Inclusive Playground, Heated Splash Pad, 12 Covered Picnic Shelters, Basketball Pavilion, Bankshot Basketball Court, Rentable Party Pavilion, a Scout Hut, Restrooms

LOS NOGALES PARK (1.5 acres) – 3300 Sante Fe Street – Los Nogales Subdivision (Sharyland Plantation)

Neighborhood Park, which includes a Playground and Open Area for Play.

Market Square (2 acres) 201 W. 11st
A Neighborhood Park, which includes shade canopies and restrooms.

MISSION HIKE AND BIKE TRAIL – 1414 S. Conway Avenue
5-mile Hike and Bike Trail, which includes Asphalt-Covered Trail, 2 Bridges, Parking Lot for up to 75 vehicles, plus adjacent over-flow parking, a covered Pavilion, 4 covered Rest Areas  and approximately 11 miles of  off-road bike dirt trails.

MISSION INDOOR RECREATION CENTER – 721 N. Bryan
Parks and Recreation Central Office. Indoor Basketball on a Hardwood Floor, Daily Pickleball Program and Ping-Pong.

NELL TOLLE PARK (13.4 acres) – Adams St. & Blake St.
A Community Park, which includes 1  Lighted Baseball Field, 1 baseball field with no lights, 3/4-Mile Walking Trail, Playground ages 5-12,  6 Picnic Tables, Football/Soccer Field, Restrooms, and Open Play Area.

Norberto “Beto” Salinas Park (Madero Park) (10 acres) – 115 East Los Indios Ave.

A Community Park which includes a playground, 0.41 mile walking trail, covered pavilion(s) available for rent, extra large BBQ pit, restrooms, multiple soccer fields

OBLATE PARK (3.0 acres) – 1115 St. Mare Avenue
Neighborhood Park, which includes 2 Lighted Tennis Courts and is the city’s oldest park, 1916. Playground ages 4-8, 4 picnic tables.

Rolando Barrera Skate Park 206 Palm (1 acre) – 206 Palma Ave

Spacious Skate Park, covered pavilion and picnic table

ROTARY PARK (1.2 acres) -Bus. Hwy. 83 & Conway Ave.
Downtown beautification area.

RUBEN HINOJOSA PARK – 4205 Los Indios Parkway
A City/ School Neighborhood Park, which includes a Playground and Open Area for Soccer. Opened only after 6:00 PM on school days and school holidays.
