Norie Gonzalez Garza was elected in 2022. Mayor Garza is a lifelong resident of Mission, graduated from Mission High School in 1977, and a graduate of then Pan American University, in 1981.

Mayor Garza was first elected to the Mission City Council Place 3 in 2007 having served in that capacity until May, 2022 she served as Mayor Pro Tem from 2012 to 2020. Mayor Garza is a businesswoman and real estate broker.

Mayor Garza has served as a member of the Planning and Zoning Commission, president of the Junior Service League of Mission, and Mission Chamber of Commerce. She also has served as a member of the Financial Advisory Committee, Complete Count Committee, Texas Citrus Fiesta, Boys and Girls Club of Mission Board of Directors, Leadership Mission Graduate Class V, Member of the Mission Chamber of Commerce, National Association of Realtors, and Greater McAllen Association of Realtors and was selected Woman of the Year for Outstanding Community Service Presented by the Progress Times in 2009. Prior to becoming a city councilwoman, Mayor Garza served as a Mission Consolidated Independent School District Board of Trustee.
