The Housing Assistance Program consists of two types of assistance, reconstruction and rehabilitation to include mobile home repair. Upon determination of eligibility, a home evaluation is done to determine the type of assistance to be provided.
Reconstruction Assistance
Provides a new brick veneer energy efficient home to eligible homeowners. The homeowner’s original home is demolished and a new home is reconstructed on the same property. Family size determines the size of the home which range from a two (2) bedroom, two (2) bath to a three (3) bedroom, two (2) bath equipped with central air and heat. Homes will be handicapped accessible.
Rehabilitation Assistance
provides major repairs to existing homes in dire need of assistance. The homeowner’s home is repaired to meet standard codes. Repairs consist of electrical, plumbing, roof and other areas that need to be addressed.
Minor Repair Program
provides rehabilitation assistance for mobile/manufactured home owners who are low income with clear titles to their homes. The assistance would include repairs necessary to address the health and safety of mobile home owners.
Basic eligibility requirements are:
- Applicant must be a homeowner and must live within Mission city limits;
- Must have clear title and must have owned/resided in the home for a minimum of five (5) years before applying for assistance;
- Taxes must be current;
- The home must need substantial repair;
