Our Mayor Beto Salinas and Mission City Council declared the week of March 11th – 17th as “Girl Scout Week” in Mission! We applaud the commitment Girl Scouting and the Girl Scouts of Greater South Texas Troops 196, 212, 219, 378, 1030, 1042, 1065, and Girl Scouts Mission Service Unit have made to support the continued advancement of girls in their roles as leaders in the City of Mission! “We have more people coming into the kennels than we have ever had before.” – Mission Health Department Supervisor Ernie Zapata. Hear about the success of our Mission Pawsible Program. City Council Meeting 03/12/2018 We would like to give a big “Thank You” to the Winter Texan Association for making a donation to our Mission Parks and Recreation Department! We appreciate all our Winter Texans do to better the Community! Mission artist Keka Kuri donates artwork – “The Aroma of My City” for the new Mission Event Center. Our Mission Police Department, Sharyland ISD, and the Unidad Coalition teamed up to host a Parent Summit for Mission parents. We thank everyone involved for the great turnout and the interest in the safety of our children. Members of our Mission Fire Department recently deployed with TIFMAS (Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System) to Amarillo, where they assisted in a search and rescue operation of a stranded hiker in Palo Duro Canyon. We are proud they represented Mission, as they helped fellow Texans. Mission City Manager Martin Garza and Mission Public Works Director Robert Salinas took Texas Water Development Board Member Kathleen Jackson on a tour of the City of Mission’s expanding waste water treatment plant. Mission is currently expanding its treatment plant for future capacity and growth – with an estimated completion date in May. The expansion – which includes a reusable water component to water our Bentsen Palm Regional Park on South Inspiration and our Industrial Park – is 83 percent complete. During the tour, the group also discussed future sewer and water infrastructure projects planned for the City of Mission. Mission TX – Palo Alto and the Mexican War (1846 – 1848) Our Mayor Beto Salinas and Mission City Council officially approved the creation of our Mission Pawsible Advisory Board and its Members! We are so thankful to these Advisory Board Members who have already volunteered countless hours to help operate our Mission Pawsible Program. Their selfless dedication has saved the lives of animals! Visitors to our Mission Historical Museum enjoyed a Living History presentation by local history enthusiasts and educators on the Palo Alto and the Mexican War (1846 – 1848). The presenters, Jaime Hernandez accompanied by Jack Ayoub, discussed uniforms worn by the soldiers, and the equipment and weapons used in the war. Living History actors came dressed in authentic uniforms and fired real Mexican/American wartime weapons. It was an insightful historical lesson. Our Mission Firefighters pushed the City’s newest Engine 4 into service! The new Fire/Rescue Engine will be stationed at Station 4 (3408 N. Inspiration Rd.) to keep our citizens safe! Congratulations to our Mission EDC for being awarded a $500K Training Grant from the State of Texas to continue its CyberSecurity Boot Camps! City Council Meeting 02/12/2018 Thank you to HEB, PostNet, and Freedom Life Church for delivering Valentine’s Day cakes with special messages of gratitude to our City of Mission Employees! We have a gallery of photos from Mission’s Mega Winter Texan Fiesta and Artesano Market Days! The City of Mission is grateful to everyone who helped make these events possible, and to the community members who came out to enjoy them- including the thousands of Winter Texans who have chosen to call Mission and the entire RGV their winter home! ‹ Previous«7879808182»Next ›
