Mission TX – City Council meeting 01/22/2018 Our Mayor Beto Salinas held his annual International Brunch as part of the 81st annual Texas Citrus Fiesta. The International Brunch allows representatives from Mission’s Mexican sister cities to join local public officials to foster and strengthen friendships with Mexico. We have a gallery of photos from the 81st Annual Texas Citrus Fiesta’s Parade of Oranges. The Texas Citrus Fiesta held its Royal Coronation of King Citrus and Queen Citrianna – steeped in tradition! Congratulations to all of the participants! The City of Mission held a groundbreaking for our Leo Peña Placita Park’s Mobility Improvement Project. Crews will now begin renovating the City’s 2.5 acre park, in order to provide a better venue for future community events. The City of Mission declares its support for the Children’s Advocacy Center of Hidalgo County’s annual Vinos Wine Extravaganza – to support the Advocacy Center’s mission to stop child abuse, one child at a time, and give hope, healing, and justice to child abuse victims. The Vinos Wine Extravaganza will take place at the Embassy Suites McAllen Convention Center on Saturday, February 17, from 7PM to 11PM, featuring food provided by local restaurants, fine wines and entertainment. Thank you to Mission’s MAE Power Equipment for choosing to donate $10,000 to our Boys and Girls Club of Mission! MAE Power was recently awarded a $20,000 small business grant in which $10,000 of the grant money could be used to make a difference in an area of the community of MAE Power’s choosing. We are grateful MAE Power chose our Boys and Girls Club of Mission! The Boys and Girls Club of Mission plans to use the donation to purchase new computer equipment and software for our youth. The Parade of Oranges will take place on Saturday, January 27th! We are hosting a New Year’s Animal Adoption Event in the City of Mission! Join us Saturday, January 20th, from 10AM to 3PM, at our Mission Recreation Center (721 N. Bryan Rd.) and find your Furever Friend! The City of Mission is excited to announce our very first transport of multiple dogs from our Mission Pawsible Program left for San Antonio! Nine Mission Pawsible dogs have found their forever homes! Members from a rescue organization loaded the dogs into a van and will send them to their new families in Texas, Colorado, Arizona, and various states across the country!
