We honored victims of crime with a walk and a vigil at our Mission Police Department. Shary Road). The Mayor’s Prayer Luncheon will be held on Thursday, May 3rd, at our Mission Event Center, from 11:30AM – 1PM. Rafael Cruz (U.S. Senator Ted Cruz’ father) will serve as the keynote speaker. Join us SATURDAY, April 21st, at our Mission City Hall Courtyard, for the 2018 City of Mission Roundup, as we celebrate all of the exciting things happening this month in Mission! Thank you to Bert Ogden Mission for helping to keep our Boys and Girls Club of Mission the Positive Place for Kids – with the “Bert Ogden Drive for Mission Kids’ Baseball” Test Drive Event! Here are some pictures from the Raving Press’ 2nd Annual Book Festival held at our Speer Memorial Library. Thank you to the authors, artists and photographers who displayed and signed their works, and encouraged the love of reading and the arts in Mission! Several City of Mission Employees visited Mission CISD’s Cavazos Elementary for its Career Day. Employees taught the children about future professional possibilities. We thank our Employees and other volunteers who dedicated their time to encourage students to explore their interests and passions. The City of Mission observed National Crime Victims’ Rights Week with a walk and vigil at our Mission Police Department to reaffirm our support for victims and survivors of crime and bring attention to the needs of crime victims within our Community. Employment in the City of Mission grew 27 percent between 2008-2017, according to the Texas Workforce Commission’s Annual Job Stats! Among the RGV ’s largest cities, Mission had the 2nd-best growth rate over the 10-year period, adding 6,700 new jobs since 2008! We’re excited for even more to come in the future!
