The Mission EDC swore in our Mayor Dr. Armando O’Caña to its Board of Directors. Our Mission EDC is a component of the City and works to create jobs, attract capital investment, improve the quality of life for our residents, and strengthen Mission’s workforce. Our Mayor Dr. Armando O’Caña and Mission City Council proclaim the day of June 23rd as “DAMAS CATÓLICAS DAY” in Mission, in honor of the Mission Damas Católicas’ 90th anniversary! We urge all citizens to join us in recognizing the dedication and hard work of its members! The City of Mission would like to invite the Community to join us at the Swearing-in Ceremony of our City’s new Mayor – Dr. Armando O’Caña! The event will be held at our Mission Event Center (200 N. Shary Rd.) on Monday, June 18th, at 3PM. The Atlantic Hurricane Season runs from June 1st to November 30th. The Pacific Hurricane Season runs from May 15th to November 30th. Our Division of Emergency Management is here for our Community before and after the storm. The “Images of Valor: U.S. Latinos and Latinas of WWII” exhibit will be open to the public at our Mission Historical Museum during regular operating hours through June 30th. Mission TX – City Council Meeting 05/29/2018 Our Boys and Girls Club of Mission held its Spring Baseball and Softball Ceremony. Thank you to the coaches, volunteers, employees, and Advisory Board members who dedicated their time to help inspire and make a difference in the lives of our youth! Mission TX – Memorial Day Salute 2018 Congratulations to the most recent recipients of our Boys and Girls Club of Mission Scholarships! The 20 students from Mission CISD, Sharyland ISD, and Mission Collegiate High School each received $500 dollars to help the students reach their college goals. We wish them the best in their future endeavors! The City of Mission adopted a resolution to rename Barbara Street (from Inspriration Road to Judy Street) the “Specialist Alex D. Gonzalez Street” – in recognition of our brave Mission soldier who sacrificed his life fighting for our country! The City of Mission recognizes the Sharyland Water Supply Corporation on its 50th Anniversary, and thanks the Sharyland Water Supply Corporation for providing drinking water to Mission residents since 1968! Thank you to everyone who gathered at our Mission Historical Museum for the Memorial Day Salute to honor our men and women who sacrificed all for their country. Please remember to visit the “Images of Valor: U.S. Latinos and Latinas of World War II” at the Museum – on display through June 30th. Our Mission Food Pantry is holding a Community Food Drive for Mission families. Many families have a difficult time keeping their pantry stocked while their children are at home during the summer. Generous residents can help by donating non-perishable food items to our Mission Event Center (200 N Shary Rd), May 28th – June 1st, 7:30AM – 6PM. Let’s feed the hungry in Mission! City Council Meeting 05/14/2018 Our Mission Police Department recently honored two of our Fallen Mission Police Officers – Humberto Avila who passed away in 1974, and Fulgencio Velasco, III who passed away in 1978. Gone, but never forgotten.
