Our Mission Mayor Dr. Armando O’Caña is actively seeking FEMA assistance for our area. Mayor Dr. O’Caña held a Press Conference informing the public that the City of Mission is collecting storm damage information from Mission Residents to better assist the State in reaching the 38 million dollar damage threshold that is needed to be declared a Federal Disaster State – which would give FEMA access into our Community. You will find a link to a survey labeled “JUNE FLOOD ASSESSMENT” at the top of our City of Mission Website. Our Mission Health Dept. will be placing granules around the City to help alleviate mosquitoes. Crews will also be spraying at night throughout the City, weather permitting (per the Texas Dept. of Agriculture – winds must be at 10mph or below). MISSION RESIDENTS: Our Mission Sanitation Crews are making rounds through the City, collecting storm debris through next Saturday (June 30th). If you have damaged items you need to discard of – such as carpets, mattresses, furniture, sheet rock, etc. – please place them at the curb for our crews to collect. Residents can also call the Sanitation Dept. to report the debris that is ready to be picked up – 583-2564. If debris is still outside by next Saturday, be sure to call the number. *All regular brush pick-up will continue as scheduled and any incoming calls will be done. Residents can call 580-8780 to report any water leaks or breaks. It is an answering service – but it will contact our crews with the message and address of the location. We have a statement from Hidalgo County regarding storm clean-up. Mission City Crews are currently doing surveillance throughout the City looking for areas with stagnant water, following the storm.
