Congratulations to our City of Mission Finance Department for being awarded the “Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting” by the Government Finance Officers Association in the United States and Canada! This is the 16th consecutive year our Finance Department has received the award. The Mission Historical Museum held its Annual Banquet, honoring several Mission residents for their contribution to the history of Mission. Mission TX – City Council Meeting 09/11/2017 The City of Mission proclaims September 25th to be “National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims” in Mission. The City of Mission and Connections for Christ Church invited the more than 200 Harvey evacuees, who are currently seeking refuge in Mission hotels, to join us for a free breakfast and lunch at our social events center on Mayberry. City of Mission Employees provided hygiene bags and transport to our center, while the Congregation provided the warm meals. Thank you to El Globo and Foy’s Supermarket for delivering a 24-foot trailer of supplies to the City of Mission’s Community-wide Relief Center! Congratulations to our Mission Fire Department’s, Richard A. Cruz, who has been promoted from Lieutenant to the rank of Captain! Captain Cruz has been with the Department for 8 years, and will now be the training Captain for the Mission Fire Department. Mission residents filled sandbags at one of the City’s three locations in preparation for Hurricane Harvey. The City of Mission congratulates Mr. Robert Rivera on his 30 years of service to our City! Rivera began working for the City of Mission in 1987, and worked his way through the ranks – serving the City in a number of capacities. Most recently, Mr. Rivera worked at our Speer Memorial Library where he will be missed as a mentor, friend, and coworker! We wish Mr. Rivera the best in his retirement! Our Mission Police Department and Mission CISD held a Bus Safety Event to remind drivers about bus safety laws. We thank the media for covering the event to help spread the message and keep our school children safe!
