The City of Mission Mayor and City Council recognize our men and women who serve as public safety telecommunicators - such as 9-1-1 operators and dispatchers - and designate the week of April 10th as "Public Safety Telecommunicators Week” in Mission. Public Safety Telecommunicators are dedicated to saving lives and respond to citizens in times of great need. We encourage all residents to extend their appreciation to our public safety telecommunicators.

Our Mission Mayor and City Council proclaim the week of April 11th to be “Crime Victims' Rights Week” in the City of Mission. We encourage all citizens of Mission to support victims and the advocates who provide them with valuable assistance on the road to recovery. Join us at our Mission Police Department on Thursday (April 14), 5PM-8PM, as we hold a walk and a vigil in honor of crime victims.

During Monday’s City Council Meeting, our Mayor and City Council honored “Animal Prevention Cruelty Month,” and called upon all Mission residents to report the abuse of animals to our City of Mission Animal Control Department. The City of Mission commends the efforts of animal rescue organizations such as RGV Low Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic, Cinderella Pet Rescue, Inc, Forgotten Friends Texas Rescue RGV, Recycled Rover and Friends, United 4 Paws, Mercy 4 the Voiceless, Yaqui Animal Rescue and Fr. Roy Snipes Our Lady of Guadalupe Church for taking a stand against all forms of animal abuse and neglect. Our City of Mission Adopt-a-Pet Program and Palm Valley Animal Shelter/The Laurie P. Andrews Paw Center advocate for unwanted, abandoned or stray animals and work towards the adoption of these pets to new loving families.
