The City of Mission now has a 2nd Safe Haven Home! A Safe Haven Home is a home that will be used as a temporary shelter (approximately three months) for people who have certain emergencies – families who have been evicted from homes for lack of payment due to medical or loss of job, families who lost their homes to fire, hurricane, storm, etc. The Safe Haven House will be used to accommodate those emergencies until the residents find permanent housing for themselves.
Texas Legislators, members of the Texas Workforce Commission, and RGV coding students gathered at our Mission EDC in celebration of the Governor signing into law legislation that allows computer science classes to count as core credits. Our Mission EDC has been an advocate of providing computer training throughout the Community and hopes this new law will further the goal of a skilled workforce.
The City of Mission proclaims the month of May to be: “ELDER ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH” in the City of Mission. Many of the cases investigated by Adult Protective Services in Texas involve self-neglect and it is our duty as citizens to reach out to people in need. We urge all citizens to work together to help reduce abuse and neglect of people who are elderly or have disabilities.
