Our Mission Fire Department held a Pinning Ceremony for 2 new officers and 3 new engineers. The captain, deputy chief, and 3 engineers recently passed their exams and will be filling open positions. The 5 received their new helmets with their new ranks, and family members pinned their new badges. Congratulations, Mission Firefighters!

Congratulations to the City of Mission’s “Office of the City Secretary” for winning our “Hats Off To Finding A Cure” competition! In an effort to support Breast Cancer Awareness month and promote team building within our City departments, City employees take part in weekly Breast Cancer Awareness events. During the “Hats Off To Finding A Cure,” Departments decorated hats in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. Directors voted, and our Department of the City Secretary won!

The City of Mission Mayor and City Council stand with Mission Police Sgt. Ted Rodriguez and Mission Police Crime Victim Advocate Diana Macias to declare October as “Domestic Violence Awareness Month.” The City urges all citizens to actively participate in the scheduled activities and programs to work toward eradicating domestic violence, improving victim safety and holding perpetrators of domestic abuse accountable for their actions against individual victims and our society as a whole.

Superheroes Joaquin and Edith dropped by our Mission Fire House on a mission to spread awareness for childhood cancer! The two children are battling Leukemia, and are part of the “FFF – Foundation” or “Faith, Family and Friends Foundation.” Our Mission Firefighters gave the two a tour of the station AND a ride inside our Fire Truck! Because of Joaquin and Edith, our Mission Firefighters plan to donate part of the proceeds from their “Breast Cancer Awareness T-Shirts” to the Vannie E. Cook Jr. Children’s Cancer & Hematology Clinic.
