Our Mayor Dr. Armando O’Caña and Mission City Leaders met at the Anzalduas Bridge with over 30 legislators as part of the RGV Legislative Tour. Mayor O’Caña addressed the legislators, welcoming them to Mission and the RGV, and advising them about our International Bridge.

The City of Mission would like to congratulate Brandon Thompson – the newly crowned 82nd King Citrus! Brandon is the fifth member of the Thompson citrus family to be crowned King Citrus – dating all the way back to 1961: Harry Thompson – 1961 Hubert Thompson – 1970 William Hubert “Bill” Thompson – 1978 Tommy Thompson – 1987 Brandon Thompson – 2019 Brandon is considered the *82nd King, while Queen Citrianna is the *83rd, because a King Citrus was not crowned during World War 2. We would also like to thank Trent Bishop for proudly representing the title of the 81st King Citrus!

Congratulations to all of the participants in this year’s Texas Citrus Fiesta Royal Coronation – including the newly crowned Queen Citrianna the 83rd, Jaedynn E’Del Alaniz, Duchess of White Wing representing the City of Peñitas (Alaniz’s mother served on the Royal Court in 1996)! This is the first time in the history of Peñitas that the Duchess of White Wing was selected as Queen Citrianna! We would also like to say thank you to Alexandria Canchola who proudly represented the title of Queen Citrianna the 82nd! Take a minute to enjoy the event in pictures. Now begins one of the most exciting weekends of the year in the City of Mission, as we countdown to the Parade of Oranges! Join us Saturday, at our Leo Peña La Placita park (across from HEB) on Conway, for the annual Fun Fair from 10AM to 10PM. Make sure to stop by our Mission Event Center (200 N. Shary Rd.) for the Meet and Greet with WWF Legend Tito Santana (TCF Grand Marshal Merced Solis) from 11:30AM to 12:30PM, and visit the Heart of America Carnival next door. Be sure not to miss the Parade of Oranges down Conway, starting at 3PM. See you at the Texas Citrus Fiesta!

The Texas Citrus Fiesta’s Heart of America Carnival will be going strong through Sunday, January 27th, outside our Mission Event Center! Tuesday through Thursday the hours are 6PM to 10PM. Friday the hours are 6PM to 11PM. Saturday the hours are 5PM to 11PM. Sunday the hours are 5PM to 10PM. And, don’t forget the TCF Fun Fair on Saturday – 10AM to 10PM at Leo Peña Placita Park!

Mission Residents can expect Road Closures during the Parade of Oranges.

The Texas Citrus Fiesta Parade of Oranges will run south along Conway Ave. from FM 495 to Fourth Street starting at 3PM on Saturday, January 26th.
