Our City of Mission Mayor and City Council recognized the Veterans Memorial Patriots Football Team who went undefeated in district play, were undisputed district champs, bi-district champs, area champs, and are now advancing to the Regional Semi Finals against Corpus Christi at the Alamo Dome on Saturday! Congratulations to this group of young men. We are proud of the way they have represented our City and we wish them good luck! Our Mayor and City Council congratulated the Mission Veterans Patriots Volleyball Team for its 4TH STRAIGHT UNDEFEATED SEASON in district play and for advancing to the regional quarterfinals! The Lady Patriots have represented the City of Mission and the entire Valley well and we are proud of their outstanding accomplishment! City of Mission Fire Marshal Frank Cavazos provides important Winter Fire Safety Tips to ensure our citizens have a safe and happy holiday season. City Council Meeting 11/13/2018 The City of Mission distributes more than 200 turkeys and Thanksgiving meals to families in need in our Community: Our City of Mission Mayor, Council, Police, Fire and City Staff distributed the complete Thanksgiving Day meals at our Mission Parks and Rec, as part of Mission’s “Day of Sharing – Thanksgiving Community Basket”! Schools and community partners identified low income families in need in our area, and several local businesses donated funds to help with the food purchases. Thanks to the generosity of our Community, families who otherwise would not, will now be able to enjoy warm Thanksgiving meals. Our City of Mission Mayor Dr. Armando O’Caña, City Councilwoman Jessica Ortega-Ochoa, and City Manager Randy Perez were honored to be guest presenters at the Diaz Villarreal Elementary’s Career Day – to help inspire the youth of our Community! Our City Leaders answered questions about their career paths and the journeys that have led them here – including Mayor O’Cana’s path to receive his doctorate. We thank the school for allowing us the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our future leaders! The City of Mission held its annual Employee Appreciation Luncheon to support and encourage city employees to continue to strive to be the best they can be, and to thank them for their hard work and dedication! Our Mission Police Department hosted the Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council’s (LRGVDC) 197th Basic Peace Officer Academy Graduation at our Mission Event Center. Congratulations to the 29 men and women who will now serve as law enforcement officers throughout the Valley.
