The Texas Citrus Fiesta held its 80th Annual Royal Coronation of King Citrus and Queen Citrianna. Please help us find these puppies a home! Strong present his Lecture Series: “Stories from Texas – Some of them are true.” Thank you to everyone who participated in our Boys and Girls Club of Mission’s Annual Skeet Shoot Fundraiser! Money raised will be used to help the youth in our Community! Our Mayor Beto Salinas met with Noticias 48 to discuss Mission’s Texas Citrus Fiesta! Our Mission Mayor Beto Salinas and City Council support the Children’s Advocacy Center of Hidalgo County in its mission to stop child abuse and give hope, healing and justice to child abuse victims. The Center is having its annual “Vinos Wine Extravaganza!” at Embassy Suites McAllen Convention Center, Saturday, Feb. 18, from 7:00pm–11:00pm – to raise awareness and funds. The City of Mission was proud to break ground on what will become the new 40,000 square ft. Mission Events Center located on Shary Road just north of Expressway 83! The future state of the art center will allow larger, better events for citizens, and will be surrounded by 19 acres of hotels, restaurants and retail stores. We are excited for the Mission Events Center’s opening, scheduled for next year. We had a great time at the Texas Citrus Fiesta Product Costume Style Show! Since 1932, participants have exhibited costumes made of Valley citrus, fruits, vegetables and foliage – many of which have been pulverized, dehydrated, blended and microwaved! We administered exams for Entry-Level Police Officer and Firefighter in the City of Mission. We are looking forward to meeting the new men and women who will soon be serving our City! Our City of Mission Mayor and City Council recognize the dedication and hard work of our Mission, La Joya and Sharyland School Board Members – and proclaim the month of January to be “School Board Recognition Month” in the City of Mission. We appreciate all that these men and women do for the children of our Community! Film crews from A&E’s “Live PD” are following our Mission Police Officers. Our Mission Police Department is proud to represent the Rio Grande Valley and the entire State of Texas in the new police documentary series on A&E. Live PD airs Fridays at 8PM on A&E. Thank you to the Community for donating to our Kops for Kids Toy Drive! Because of Mission’s generosity – our Mission Police Officers and Mission Crime Stoppers handed out more than 2,600 toys to more than 350 families in need in our area! Our Mayor Beto Salinas and Mission City Council presented the Veterans Memorial Patriots Football Team a plaque – congratulating the players on their Bi-district and Area Championship!
