The Texas Citrus Fiesta held its Product Costume Show, themed – “Texas Citrus Fiesta Celebrates Hollywood Movies” – at our Mission Community Center! The Product Costume Show is a display of folk art that originated in the RGV 81 years ago (one year after the start of the TCF). Costumes in the show are created from locally grown agricultural products! Local elementary kids also displayed their miniature floats in the “Shoebox Float Contest,” and contestants took part in the “Ultimate Grapefruit Pie Baking Showdown.” All of these events will lead up to the famous “Parade of Oranges” that will take place on January 26th at 3PM – with Merced Solis, aka Tito Santana, serving as the Grand Marshal!

We are honored to have the 1971 Mission High School graduate, former professional football player, AND professional wrestler – turned teacher, represent the City of Mission in the TCF! The Texas Citrus Fiesta held a photo shoot for Queen Citrianna 82nd, Alexandria Canchola, with our Mission Event Center serving as the backdrop!

Events have already started leading up to the Parade of Oranges on January 26th! The Costume Product Show, which includes the shoebox float display and grapefruit pie contest, will be held Saturday, January 12th, at 2PM at our Mission Community Center (1420 E. The City of Mission is excited to announce our Mission Mayor Dr. Armando O’Caña has invited Merced Solis (aka Tito Santana) to serve as this year’s 82nd Annual Texas Citrus Fiesta Parade of Oranges Grand Marshal! We are honored to have the 1971 Mission High School graduate, former professional football player AND professional wrestler represent our City as Grand Marshal as we pay homage to the influence the citrus industry has had on the City of Mission and the entire RGV! Celebrate the Parade of Oranges with us on January 26th at 3PM, as hundreds of brightly colored floats, adorned in Valley citrus and agricultural products, travel South on Conway, from 495 to 1st Street!
