The State of Texas has NOT been declared a Disaster State, therefore, currently there is no FEMA assistance.
“The only assistance is through your local faith based organizations, non profit organizations, and your volunteer agencies. The City of Mission is working in conjunction with the TX Division of Emergency Management in meeting the 38 million dollar threshold needed for consideration of a declared State of Disaster. Please be patient. Take pictures of any damage, keep invoices of any repairs, and Soda PDF document in detail. ” – City of Mission Emergency Operation Center
Our Mission Mayor Dr. Armando O’Caña and surrounding mayors have declared our area to be in a state of disaster,
and are currently working feverishly to get a Presidential Declaration that we are a “Disaster State” – A “Disaster State” Declaration will give FEMA access to our area.
In order for that to happen, the affected counties (Hidalgo, Starr, Willacy, Cameron and Brooks) must show that we collectively have at least 38 million dollars worth of damages from the storm.
To help in that process and give us better estimates of damages, the City of Mission will be providing forms for residents to fill out.
Stay tuned – we will post when those forms are ready.
