Mission to open warming shelter – COVID-19 safety protocols will be in place

The City of Mission is opening a warming center as wind chills are expected to dip into the 20s in the coming days. The location will be available to anyone in need of safe, warm shelter.

The cold weather shelter will open at the Mission Parks & Recreation building, 721 N. Bryan Road. The center will be open at 3 p.m. on Saturday through Tuesday morning at 10 a.m.

Residents are asked to pack a blanket, pillow, medication, personal identification, toiletry items and snacks. The temporary shelter will adhere to COVID-19 safety protocols. Face masks are required and there will be coronavirus screening for guests, including temperature checks. There will also be expanded space to allow for physical distancing.
