Mission PD hosting childhood cancer awareness walk
The Mission Police Department will commemorate September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month with a special ceremony and walk to honor young victims and survivors on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2021.
“The Mission Police Department Has Your Back Childhood Cancer Awareness Walk kicks off at 7 p.m. September is a month when we honor children with cancer, children who have survived cancer and the children who have lost their battle,” Mission Police Chief Robert Dominguez said. “We are asking our community to join us, and wear their gold attire so we can all work together to ensure that childhood cancer is never forgotten.”
Mission PD joined forces with the Greater Gold Foundation to organize the event. There will be a walk followed by a special candlelight ceremony. The public is invited to join Mission city leaders and first responders as they honor the brave young victims, survivors and their families.
