Mission hosting Mayor’s Christmas Tree Lighting – 34th annual holiday lights and delights will run two days

Ring in the season with Mayor Norie Gonzalez Garza and Mission city leaders. The City of Mission will kick off the holiday season with the Mayor’s Annual Tree Lighting and this year, the celebration will again run two days. The public is invited to Leo Peña Placita Park on Friday, Nov. 18, and Saturday Nov. 19, for a FREE event for the entire family. A special tree lighting will highlight the holiday spectacular on Friday at 6:30 p.m.

“The holiday season is so special because it is a time when our community comes together with friends and family to celebrate peace, love and joy,” Mayor Garza said. “Join us for a magical night including entertainment by our local school districts and a special visit from Santa Claus!”

The 2-day event will also include mariachi music, conjunto performances, life-sized Christmas cards for selfies, live music, games, food and craft vendors, toy raffles and plenty of family friendly entertainment. There will also be a special presentation by Mission Parks and Recreation Ballet Folklorico dancers and the New Variety Band will close out the evening entertainment on Saturday night.
