Meet our Hometown Heroes: U.S. Marines and City of Mission Residents Nick Caseres and Sgt. Fieldy (an 11 year old black lab who served 4 tours in Afghanistan).
The duo helped save countless lives! Sgt. Fieldy won the the 2018 Military Hero Dog of the Year!
Read the following from KVEO Newscenter 23:
“MISSION, Texas – Corporal Nick Caseres and Sgt. Fieldy will be at a taping of the TODAY Show on Oct. 18. Sgt. Fieldy, who served in the U.S. Marine Corp, won the 2018 Military Hero Dog of the Year and is nominated for the American Humane Hero Dog Award in the Military category.
Corporal Caseres and his wife Marla, an employee of the Mission CISD, adopted Sgt. Fieldy after he served three tours with three different handlers in Afghanistan in 2011. The Sergeant was Honorably discharged in 2014.”
