Groundbreaking set for Mission fire and police substation
Progress continues in the City of Mission. A groundbreaking for the city’s newest fire and police substation is being held on Friday. A ceremony will be held at 4 p.m. at the site of the new substation, the intersection of Military Parkway & Schuerbach Road.
“It’s exciting to see this project get underway,” Mayor Dr. Armando O’Caña said. “Having a new, modern facility suited to the needs of our community is vital for our future.”
At 16,588 square feet, the new facility will house a variety of police operations including patrol, criminal investigations, traffic and a community oriented policing office. It will also be a full-fledged fire station to service the developing southwest side of Mission.
“This groundbreaking represents the culmination of a lot of hard work, and it marks the next step for the Mission Police Department, the Mission Fire Department and our service to the community,” said Mayor O’Caña.
