H-E-B and Mondelēz International, Inc. have invested several thousands of dollars into our youth, in building these two new fields, and the community celebrated.

City leaders, youth soccer players, and community members all gathered at our Hollis Rutledge Park and threw out the first soccer balls.

“These soccer fields will give our children another avenue to stay healthy, stay out of trouble, and stay involved in positive activities.” said Mission Mayor Norberto “Beto” Salinas.

“Here in Mission, we are passionate about youth development and know what a critical role athletic programs can play in local communities. We are excited HEB and Mondelēz International, Inc. have chosen to invest in our community.” added Mission City Manager Martin Garza.

Mondelēz International, Inc., with brands like OREO, RITZ, TRIDENT and SOUR PATCH KIDS, are the Official Snacks of Deportivo Guadalajara, commonly known as Chivas and U.S. Soccer Men’s and Women’s National Teams. We are excited they have brought their love for the sport to the Rio Grande Valley.

“The health and wellness of Texans is of upmost importance and one of H-E-B’s top priorities. Through our Healthy at H-E-B initiative, we encourage our customers and Partners to eat better, move more and live well. H-E-B is proud to collaborate with Mondelez and the City of Mission Parks & Rec Department on bringing soccer to our area’s families so that they have a healthy outlet.” Said H-E-B Señor Manager, Public Affairs, Linda Tovar.

H-E-B has always been dedicated to spreading health and wellness
across the state and we are are thankful H-E-B is bringing that dedication to Mission.

The City of Mission, HEB, and Mondelez International hope a score on the field will translate to higher scores in the classroom, and healthier youth in our community!
