Mission TX – City Council Meeting 02/27/2017 Thank you to everyone who took part in our Speer Memorial Library’s Book Festival and helped us spread the love of reading and the arts in the City of Mission! Visitors enjoyed a publishing seminar by Gabriel H. Sanchez, a theater monologue: “El Insurrecto” by Pedro Garcia, local RGV films, children’s book readings, poetry readings, an open mic and much more! The Raving Press hosted the event. A group of our City of Mission Leaders and Employees took part in Mission Day at the Capital in Austin. The group’s mission was to meet with legislators and share issues important to our area. We thank the RGV delegation of legislators for the warm reception. Mission Speer Memorial Library conveyed computers to the City of Miguel Alemán, Tamaulipas, Mexico. The computers were no longer of use to the Library and were recently surplussed by City Council. Mayor Rosy Corro (black dress) personally picked up the computers and reiterated that they will be very beneficial to citizens of Miguel Alemán. The Boys and Girls Club of Mission works to enable our youth to become productive, caring, and responsible citizens.
