Hundreds of kids in Mission are learning the love of reading through our Summer Reading Program at our Speer Memorial Library! The Boys and Girls Club of Mission is teaching our kids anti-bullying tactics. The children are learning bullying awareness and prevention. Our Mission Hike and Bike Trail is getting an upgrade! Crews are hard at work building restroom facilities at the trail entrance. The City of Mission project should be completed next month, with seven new restrooms. Thursday’s Family Movie Night on the lawn at our Mission Historical Museum was a success! Thank you to all of the 187 people who joined us for the evening of fun! Wrestling classes have started at our Boys and Girls Club of Mission under the instruction of Mission High School Coach David Mann. It’s the first time the Club has offered wrestling. The kids, ranging in age from five to 12, will be learning the basics of the sport. We are teaching our kids at the Boys and Girls Club of Mission about the dangers of using drugs. More than 1,440 children will learn to swim this summer in Mission, thanks to the Gus and Goldie Program at our Mission Parks and Recreation! Our Mission Crime Stoppers, Mission Fire Department, and McGruff held a Safety Fair for children at Peter Piper Pizza. Mission residents enjoyed our Family Movie Night on the Lawn at our Mission Historical Museum! More than 300 kids in our Speer Memorial Library’s Summer Reading Program read at least 5 books and celebrated with a party! In all, 458 kids registered for our Summer Reading Program! Kids and youth at our Boys and Girls Club of Mission kicked-off Mission’s Enginuity Program with a celebration. We love when residents send us pictures of pets they adopted through our City of Mission Adopt-a-Pet Program. Thank you for adopting! Coco loves her new home!
