Mission TX – Library Card Month 2015 Mission TX – Library Card Month 2015 Mission TX- Our Police Chief speaks about 9/11 “I can tell you from personal experience, even all these years later, it still hits you in the heart as you go through that museum and look at the countless lives that were affected by 9/11 and the tragedy of that day.” – Mission Police Chief Robert Dominguez speaking about the 9/11 Memorial. Mission TX – Our Fire Chief speaks about 9/11 “They knew that the building was extremely dangerous, yet they still went in.” – Mission Fire Chief Rene Lopez, Jr., remembers the hundreds of firefighters who lost their lives trying to save others on 9/11. Sisters, Posey and Lily, are looking for a home. They are believed to be lab mixes and about 4 months old. Our Mission Firefighters spent the week working alongside fellow first responders from across the Valley and Mexico, training for a large-scale HAZMAT incident Thank you to the Mission Lions Club for donating $300 to our Friends of the Library organization! The money will be used to purchase games, puzzles, and activities for our Speer Memorial Library’s Children’s Department! Through our Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG), the City of Mission just handed over the keys to three new houses! Our Speer Memorial Library hosts Lego Robotics classes to help students improve their engineering, math, physics and problem solving skills, all while having fun. Mission TX – Sanitation Department The City of Mission’s new Sanitation Department made $900,000 dollars more this year than we did when we contracted out to a private company. We also created 17 new jobs. Have you seen the results of our Conway Streetscape Project at night, yet? This is what it looks like!
