This show focuses on history and culture showing everything one needs to see, do, and experience in the Lone Star State. Our Mayor Beto Salinas received a distinguished award from HCMPO: “Presented to Norberto “Beto” Salinas for Outstanding Service and Leadership as our Esteemed Chairman of the Hidalgo County Metropolitan Planning Organization Board.” The HCMPO is a federally funded program that works with Hidalgo County communities and the Texas Department of Transportation to plan for the county’s future transportation needs. Congratulations to our Mayor! Santa made an early visit at our Speer Memorial Library to take pictures with the kids! The City of Mission enjoyed teaching students from Mission CISD’s Mims Elementary about our City Government. City Directors explained how each Department works, and the students plan to implement what they learned into the development of their Minitropolos of “Mustangville.” Our Mission Oral History Project began with a lecture on Life in Early Mission by Mission native Estella Guerra Salinas at the Mission Historical Museum. The Texas Department of State Health Services recognized Mission’s Office of the City Secretary at the 61st Annual Texas Vital Statistics Annual Conference held in Austin, by awarding our Office of the City Secretary the State’s 5-Star “Exemplary” Award. The City of Mission was one of only three awarded to the RGV Local Registrars. Congratulations! Thank you to all who came out to support our Boys and Girls Club of Mission during its Pancake Fundraiser! Your pancake purchase will go toward helping the future of our Mission youth! We had a festive Poinsettia Luncheon and Mini String Quartet Concert in Mission! Thank you to our Mission Historical Museum for all of the hard work hosting the Holiday event! Participants are learning about Mission’s history through food at our Mission Historical Museum’s “En Mi Casita Pioneer Days” program. GOLFERS: Our Shary Municipal Golf Course has purchased several pieces of equipment to better serve our players and grounds! Mission City Manager Martin Garza and Police Chief Robert Dominguez were proud to take part in McAllen’s Pearl Harbor Remembrance program at the Veterans War Memorial of Texas.
