Mission’s newly renovated Leo Peña Placita Park is open and ready for play! Located at the corner of Business 83 and Conway Avenue, the historic Leo Peña Placita Park has undergone significant upgrades. The City of Mission held a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to debut the new features, just in time for the City’s National Night Out Event!
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the City of Mission encourages our Employees to participate in supporting the cause by purchasing a T-shirt they can wear every Friday in the month of October (the Employees compete to create the winning T-shirt’s design)! The City also hosts a Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon at our Mission Event Center. We hope these events serve to educate our Employees on the importance of early screening and early detection. (The picture below is of our City of Mission Employee, Linda Castañeda, who is a 2004 Breast Cancer Survivor!)
Maranatha Radio teamed up with several RGV non-profit organizations to host the 3rd Annual Healthy Families, Healthy Communities 5k Run/Walk. The purpose of the 5K is to promote, build and sustain community partnerships, and enhance the ability of families to provide a secure and nurturing environment. Thank you, Maranatha Radio – healthy families make happy communities!
Our Mission City Council had a special guest – Kelsey Villalobos – a 5th grader at Mims Elementary who will be running for Mustangville City Council Place 1! Mustangville is a minitropolis at Mims, designed to mirror a fully functioning community. Kelsey posed for pictures with our Mission City Council Members, including our own City Council Place 1 Member Jessica Ortega-Ochoa! We thank Kelsey for the visit, and for choosing to run for a position that will serve others!
