Mission City Manager named ‘Man of the Year’

Award presented during chamber of commerce annual gala

Mission- Less than a year into his tenure, Mission City Manager Randy Perez was named Man of the Year by the Progress Times newspaper, part of their annual citizens awards.

“Randy is incredibly deserving of this award and it comes as no surprise to me or my colleagues on the city council that he would be chosen for this prestigious recognition,” Mayor Dr. Armando O’Caña said. “Randy works tirelessly every day in his role as city manager. The council and I are grateful that he continues to provide guidance and leadership for our city.”

Perez was recognized at the Annual Greater Mission Chamber of Commerce Gala:  A Circus Extravaganza on Oct. 17, 2019. Man and woman of the year awards go to persons for outstanding community service of two or more years.

“It is an honor to receive this award. I am truly humbled and to even be mentioned in the company of previous recipients is an honor,” Perez said. “I’ve been really blessed over my career to be surrounded by great people—an outstanding staff and excellent, supportive city council members. Receiving this award wouldn’t be possible without all the support I’ve received throughout the years.” 

Some of Perez’s accomplishments cited by in the nomination application include commitment to public safety, strategic planning for the community, strengthening fiscal responsibility, promoting family-friendly community events, and stimulating residential and business growth. Perez is also an active member and leader at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church and St. Paul’s Church.
