ALERT – MISSION POLICE DEPARTMENT

The Mission Police Department has been notified about scammers impersonating as Mission Police Officers and other law enforcement entities.  These scammers are calling via telephone telling them they have warrants for their arrest and that they have to pay a fine.  These scammers are requesting a variety of gift cards as a form of over the phone payments or they try to obtain your bank account number or Social Security number.   

The Mission police Department and other Law Enforcement entities do not request any form of payment relating to citations, arrest warrants, or any other fines via phone.  DO NOT provide any personal information or payment via telephone until you have contacted the appropriate government entity to report and validate the information. 

Furthermore these calls are not just only Law Enforcement government entities they are also using the Social Security administration.  The Social Security Administration will not, request personal or financial information through these methods.  If you do receive these calls you can contact 1-877-IDTHEFT (1-877-438-4338) or visit their website at www.ftc.gov/idtheft.
