Animal Shelter
Health, Code Enforcement and Animal Control Department: The Health, Code Enforcement and Animal Control Department enforces all City health ordinances to ensure the health and safety of the general public. The Department conducts inspections of all retail food establishments to ensure compliance with State and Federal health regulations, conducts foodborne illness investigations, enforces code enforcement and property maintenance ordinances including overgrown grass, health and sanitation issues, addresses bee insect complaints and controls the mosquito populations by spraying and larviciding for mosquitoes. The Department also provides the citizens of Mission with animal control services and operates the Mission Animal Shelter in strict compliance with all applicable state regulations.

City Manager
The purpose of the City Manager’s Office is to implement policy/directions, as issued by the Mayor and City Council, in the most equitable and effective manner.

City Secretary
The Office of the City Secretary is part of the city administration. The objective of the office is to guarantee the legality and accuracy of official city documents and to provide for their safekeeping. The Office of the City Secretary is at the forefront of the legislative and administrative processes in local government. The City Secretary performs the duties assigned by various state statutes and city ordinances, guarantees the legality and accuracy of official city documents, and provides for their safekeeping. The City Secretary attends all meetings of the City Council and keeps accurate minutes of these meetings. In addition, the City Secretary serves as the Registrar of Vital Statistics, Public Information Officer and Records Manager for the city.

Civil Service
The Civil Service Department collaborates with the Civil Service Commission, which is made up of Leopoldo “Polo” Garza, Guillermo Delgadillo and Robert Peña on any given issue that needs approval, as well as collaborating with the City Attorney and/or Civil Service Attorney on any legal issues or to acquire a legal opinion

Community Development
The City of Mission has been receiving funds for the past 38 years from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.

Finance Department
The Finance Department was created by City ordinance on May 22, 1978 to administer the financial functions of the City of Mission.

Fire Department is a public safety organization responsible for protecting life, property, and the environment from fire and other emergencies.

Fleet Maintenance
The Fleet Maintenance Department is responsible for the maintenance of all City vehicles and special equipment.

Grants Administration
The Grant Administrator is responsible for the coordination and administration of the City’s grants and the duties required to coordinate compliance requirement activities of the City government.

Human Resources
The Human Resources Department works with and for City departments by evaluating, monitoring, developing and administering Recruitment and Retention, Compensation, Status Changes (promotions, demotions, transfers, terminations), Personnel Records Administration, Performance Evaluations, Disciplinary Action, Employee Relations, Policy and Procedures, Training and Development, State and Federal Labor Law compliance and other personnel-related questions and concerns. The Human Resources Department provides and promotes a fair and healthy working environment for all City employees and assists them with information regarding Federal and State employment laws and regulations, and any other personnel-related questions and concerns. The Human Resources Department also assists the Civil Service Director with Entry-Level and Promotional Testing for the Police and Fire Departments.

IT Department
The I.T. Department combined brings to the City of Mission over 50 years of experience in the field of information technology. The IT department is always looking for ways to utilize the city’s equipment more productively as well as support and enforce city computer use policy.

Media Relations Department
The Media Relations Department was created to serve as a liaison to all members of the media. It gathers information to report on news events that impact residents and visitors of the City of Mission.

Mission Event Center
The Mission Event Center provides a 18,000-square-foot ballroom that can be divided into seven different salons equipped with projectors, screens, and LED ambiance lighting.

Mission Historical Museum
The Mission Historical Museum is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization, which first opened its doors in 2002, and serves the community of Mission and visitors to the area. The Museum maintains both long-term and temporary exhibits, and presents a variety of events and programs for all ages.

Municipal Court
The Municipal Court is the local branch of the judicial system, which enforces criminal laws, traffic laws and municipal ordinances within the court’s jurisdiction.

Parks & Recreation
The Parks and Recreation Department consists of three divisions: Parks, Recreation, and Aquatics.

Planning Department
The Planning Department guides the orderly development of the city using several primary ordinances: the Subdivision Ordinance, the Zoning Ordinance, the Off-Street Parking Ordinance, the Landscaping Code, and the Sign Ordinance.

The goal of the Mission Police Department is to reduce crime and protect our citizens from crime. As the city of Mission continues to grow, the Mission Police Department continues to build programs to better serve our citizens.

The Mission Public Works Department oversees streets, health, water, and sewer services for over 23,000 customers, ensuring safe and compliant utilities through four key divisions under an experienced director.

The Purchasing Department manages all procurement for the City of Mission, ensuring compliance, transparency, and best value through centralized purchasing and contract oversight.

Risk Management
The Risk Management Department promotes workplace safety, manages claims and workers’ compensation, and ensures compliance with state and federal regulations.

The Sanitation Department provides twice-weekly waste collection, monthly brush pickup, and public recycling services for over 22,000 homes in Mission.
