The City of Mission hopes to make walking to school safer for our children.
Our Mayor and City Council recently approved a Resolution to apply for a grant that would fund the “Safe Route to School Program.” If approved, the program would allow the City to do about $150,000 in sidewalk improvements at five school campuses – Bryan Elementary O’Grady Elementary, Escobar-Rios Elementary, Leal Elementary and Pearson Elementary. Mission City Manager Martin Garza says the installation of new sidewalks and signage at Mission CISD schools would “ensure safer routes for children to walk to school, as well as provide exercise benefits for the entire community.”
