Our Mayor and City Council recently approved a Resolution to apply for a grant that would fund the “Safe Route to School Program.” If approved, the program would allow the City to do about $150,000 in sidewalk improvements at five school campuses – Bryan Elementary O’Grady Elementary, Escobar-Rios Elementary, Leal Elementary and Pearson Elementary. Mission City Manager Martin Garza says the installation of new sidewalks and signage at Mission CISD​ schools would “ensure safer routes for children to walk to school, as well as provide exercise benefits for the entire community.”
