Overview

The Boys & Girls Club of Mission (BGCM) is committed to giving back to communities. This year BGCM will award several scholarships to students in the following schools: Mission High School, Mission Veteran’s Memorial High School, Mission Collegiate High School, Sharyland Pioneer High School, Sharyland High School, IDEA Public Schools and to surrounding schools if the student is a resident of the City of Mission. These scholarships offer graduating Seniors’ from the community the opportunity to continue their education after high school. BGCM is true to its commitment to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.

Boys & Girls Club of Mission Scholarships

BGCM has seen many changes since its official acceptance into the Boys and Girls Clubs of America in 1987. From that time many groups, organizations and individuals have played numerous roles in the accumulation of funds, personnel, equipment, activities and facilities. The Boys & Girls Club has always done its best to be the positive place for kids. Together with our great staff, Advisory Board, the City of Mission and our great community we can build a safe environment to help youth develop self-esteem, values, and skills needed to become adults.

Scholarship Disbursement

BGCM will issue a check payable directly to the scholarship recipient. Each recipient must ensure they have a valid form of identification when they are issued the check.

Eligibility

Recipients are expected to have participated in the Boys & Girls Club of Mission at one point in their educational background.

Recipients must meet all of these requirements to be eligible for the scholarship award:

Be a high school senior during the 2018-2019 school year.

Will be graduating from the class of 2019.

Plan to attend an eligible institution of higher education.

NOTE: BY SUBMITTING YOUR APPLICATION YOU ARE IN AGREEMENT WITH THE FOLLOWING: Participants’ applications will become public information and may be printed in part or in full publicity materials and on the City of Mission’s Web site with the exception of personal and educational information. Scholarship recipients may also be required by BGCM to participate in a photo shoot for publicity materials.

Deadline

A copy of the application packet of potential scholarship winners must be either mailed to the address listed below or may be brought in person to the Boys and Girls Club of Mission no later than April 26, 2019 before 5:00 p.m.
