MISSION HISTORY BY MISSION COMMUNITY

The Mission Historical Museum continues its series of historical lectures with MY MISSION: Oral History Project. Every third Saturday of the month, learn about Mission’s history from the people who lived it, sustained its quality, and continue to champion its value.

Join us on Saturday, March 19, 2016, at 10:00 am with local history enthusiast Patti Golden as she takes us through a wonderful narrative The History of Mission, providing an oral history on early Mission, early commerce, and the early ways of Mission pioneer families. Admission is FREE to the public.

Golden started visiting Mission, TX in 1978 before she permanently took residence in 1984. She was fascinated with Mission’s culture and history, and became an avid researcher of it. Ms. Golden is a graduate of Leadership Mission Class of 2004 and a former employee of The Mission Historical Museum, where she worked as the Education Coordinator for ten years. Her oral history presentations have covered various subjects, such as The History of Mission, The Orphan Train and The History of the American Flag for local organizations such as Mission Independent School District, Sharyland Independent School district, Rotary Club, Lions Club, Leadership Mission and The Mission Historical Museum.

The Mission Historical Museum is a 501 c 3 non-profit organization that collects, preserves, exhibits and promotes the history and cultural heritage of Mission and its environ communities.
