Mission PD hosting drive-thru backpack giveaway – Children will receive school supplies and vaccines will be available
The Mission Police Department has teamed up with Driscoll Health Plan to host a school supply drive-thru giveaway on Friday, July 23, 2021 at Mission PD, 1200 E. 8th Street.
Children must be present to receive a backpack and the supplies will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis. Police officers will be distributing about 800 backpacks. Patrons must stay in the vehicle at all times.
Citizens will also have an opportunity to get vaccinated. Hidalgo County health officials, in partnership with the City of Mission, Hidalgo County Precinct 3 Commissioner’s Office, and the Mission Police Department will be hosting a COVID-19 vaccination clinic, next door to the police department, at the Mission Parks & Recreation gym, 721 N. Bryan Road. Pfizer vaccinations will be administered to those 12 years of age and older.
