The Mission Historical Museum collects items of historical significance to the city of Mission and adjacent areas of southwest Hidalgo County. The object collection includes historic costumes, tools, household items, and much more. The archival collection includes documents, photographs, and other items on paper or other media which contain historical information that relates to history of Mission and immediate area.

The Museum also maintains a reference library with a concentration on local history, preservation, and museum topics. Materials include books, periodicals, and vertical files, with other media represented as well. The library is open by appointment for public use. Materials may be used on-site only.
