Thanks to a local Rescuer, however, who spent months rehabbing him, T-Rex was transported to New Jersey where a loving family adopted him! Our Mission Mayor Dr. Armando O’Caña welcomed UTRGV to our Mission Event Center for the 1st Friday Breakfast – an event that brings City, County, State and Federal officials and their staffs together for a conversation about UTRGV and the regional issues shared by all entities across the RGV. The City of Mission was proud to take part in Mission CISD’s Fifth Annual Back to School Bash! Firefighter Frank Cavazos has been promoted to Deputy Chief and will now oversee the Fire Prevention Division as Fire Marshal. Congratulations to Deputy Chief Cavazos on this acheivement! We thank him for his service, dedication, and hard work that led to this promotion! Mission TX – City Council Meeting 07/23/2018 The City of Mission and Food Bank RGV served 528 area families, including 1,038 children, during the recent Flood Relief Distribution at our CWV Park. We were blessed to be able to help 2,264 individuals! Mission families enjoyed the Movies on the Lawn at our Jacycee Park, Thursday! Our Mission Firefighters honored Sidney Williamson with the “Citizens Lifesaving Award” for her selfless act of rendering lifesaving aid in a time of need! Our Speer Memorial Library held its “End of the Summer Party” at Ray Landry Fireman’s Park for kids who completed the five book minimum requirement of the Library’s Summer Reading Program! In all, 225 kids registered to be a part of this year’s Program! Thank you to our Speer Memorial Library for promoting the love of reading in Mission! Our Mission Historical Museum held the first movie in its Summer Movies on the Lawn Series! Families enjoyed an entertaining evening at our Hollis Rutledge Park.
