Our Mission City Manager met with City of Mission Directors regarding the status of the Madero storm damage and our recovery efforts. Mission is waiting on a Presidential Declaration of Disaster for Federal assistance. Congratulations to our most recent Mission Firefighters: Jacob Salinas, Jr., Brian Sanchez, Mauricio Rosales and Jessica Loredo! The firefighters have completed their one year probationary period and are now considered full-career firefighters for the City of Mission! Thank you to the Salvation Army and all of the citizen volunteers, including the many City of Mission employees, who have donated their time and efforts to provide lunch and dinner to the Mission residents still recovering from the recent storms. Our Mission Firefighters, Police Officers, and City Employees have been handing out water to the residents in the storm-damaged Madero area. Thank you to the kind citizens who donated water to distribute! Thanks to the City of Mission’s Community Development Block Grant Program, a Mission resident just received the keys to a new home! The cities of Mission, Hidalgo, and Mcallen met recently to visit the proposed site of the future Madero Bridge. The three cities are working together to make the Bridge a reality, and construct it within the next six years. Our Mission Health Department will begin spraying for mosquitoes. The spraying will start with all public parks and school playground areas and then continue to all City neighborhoods. If you have a concern with mosquitoes in a particular location, please call the Health Department at 580-8741.
