Our Boys and Girls Club of Mission recognized veterans who work at the Club – David Aleman II and Xavier Sanchez. We thank them for their service! The City of Mission proudly has 44 veterans currently employed with the City. Our Shary Municipal Golf Course supports the youth of our community – hosting high school golf tournaments and making the course available to high schools throughout its peak season. We are growing the game of golf in Mission! Mission Fire Chief Rene Lopez, Jr, is retiring after 35 years of service to the City of Mission. To thank him for his service, the City of Mission gave Chief Lopez the Keys to the City. We wish Chief Lopez well in his retirement. Visitors to our Speer Memorial Library met local paranormal investigators and learned about the tools they use and experiences they’ve had in the RGV! As part of Red Ribbon Week, our Mission Crime Stoppers spoke to students at Mission CISD’s Pearson Elementary about the dangers of drugs. Our Mayor Beto Salinas and Mission City Council urge all citizens of Mission to honor our Veterans on the upcoming Veterans Day – November 11th – by recognizing the valor, sacrifice, and volunteerism of our Veterans through ceremonies and prayers. Our Mission Historical Museum’s Dia de los Muertos Festival was a night of culture and celebration! Kids in Mission are ready for our upcoming Halloween Family Festival at the Booseum after debuting their costumes at our Speer Memorial Library’s Annual Costume Contest! “Our crime rate is one of the best in Texas and across the U.S. and I applaud my officers for that. We have a great responsibility to our citizens.
